Bill MacAloney is Chairman and CEO of Jax Markets offering more than four decades of successful leadership in business. He was Chairman of the nation’s largest retail business, Certified Grocers of California (now known as Unified Grocers, Inc.). Bill is a past Chairman of the California Grocers Association and was Co-Chair of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and a past President of the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC).
Bill presently serves on the Villa Park City Council. He was Mayor in 2002 and 2009.
Bill has been an active philanthropist and has received numerous awards for his service, leadership and philanthropy. His awards include Retailer of the Year from the Mexican-American Grocers Association (MAGA), the Golden Globe Award from Anaheim Union School District, Spirit of Life Award from the City of Hope, Humanitarian Award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews, Distinguished Community Service Award from the Anti-Defamation League of B’Nai B’rith and in January, 2009, The Founders Award for outstanding leadership and extraordinary achievement from the Friends of the Industry at the Annual Food Marketing Institute Board Meeting in Orlando, Florida.
Bill was appointed to Governor Arnold Schwarzenneger’s Board of Accountancy (4 years), and he was on St. Joseph Hospital Board of Trustees and was Chairman of their Planning Committee.
Bill and his wife, Gwen, have been married 45 years and have resided in Villa Park for 35 years. They have four children, ten grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
